Finance Bootcamp on shortlist for Higher Education award

Strathclyde Business School has been shortlisted by Group GTI and targetjobs UK for the Higher Education Careers and Employability Award, in partnership with AmplifyME, as part of the National Graduate Recruitment Awards for 2023 for its Amplify Trading Bootcamp.

Students can take part annually in the Level 5 Accredited finance simulation bootcamp, designed specifically to help them secure a future in the financial industry. Amplify Trading Bootcamp uses the same simulation technology delivered to the world's largest investment banks, asset managers and hedge funds, allowing students to experience the realities of working in the industry and find the right role to make the most of their future in finance. Clients that use this technology include Bank of China; Credit Suisse; Morgan Stanley and Bank of America. The experience is open to second year undergraduate and finance masters students.

Since 2020, Amplify and Strathclyde have collaborated to deliver simulation bootcamps to demystify finance and increase satisfaction and employability for more than 500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Students took part in the bootcamp most recently in January and provided overwhelmingly positive feedback on the experience.

Jillian D’Agostino of the Department of Accounting and Finance said, “We are delighted to be shortlisted for this award – taking part in the bootcamp is an eye-opening experience for our students and we had over 200 students take part this year. We are so pleased to partner with Amplify on this and feel the opportunity to take part in the bootcamp has real benefits for our students, allowing them to experience the trading experience at a practical level, something which – with Strathclyde being ‘the place of useful learning’ - chimes so well with the University’s ethos.

"The University's Careers Service also played an important part in making this such a success and we're grateful for their support. It's been a hugely collaborative process between the Business School, the Careers Service and Amplify and we're pleased it's had such a beneficial outcome for our students."
